Students
Students in Earth & Environmental Sciences major and minor programs can start as freshmen or enter the university later as transfer students. Some enter Northeastern knowing they want to study environmental issues as a primary career path, with the intention of pursuing graduate studies or seeking employment in the field when they graduate. Students sometimes find us after trying other majors, often after finding that one of our introductory-level courses spoke to them in ways they hadn't anticipated. And, of course, in the liberal arts tradition, there is the idea that a good college education prepares students to be effective in a variety of fields, not just the one you majored in.
As outlined elsewhere on this site, in addition to their coursework, EES students participate in:
- Field trips
- Faculty-supervised research
- Co-op
- International Study Programs
Students organize the ongoing activities of the NU Terra Society, and take advantage of the opportunities of being in Boston and New England (arts, music, sports, travel, recreation, cultural diversity, and entertainment).
